WARSAW, July 31 (Reuters) - The following are significant news stories, press reports and events on Thursday. ALL TIMES GMT (Poland: GMT + 2 hours):

INFLATION

Polish Statistical Office will release its preliminary inflation reading for July. Analysts polled by Reuters estimate that inflation slowed to 2.85% year-on-year from 4.1% in June.

MBANK

Commerzbank's CBKG.DE Polish unit mBank MBK.WA posted on Thursday a 127% rise in second-quarter profit driven by a drop in provisions for the bank's Swiss franc mortgage portfolio and high net interest income.

ING BANK SLASKI

ING Bank Slaski INGP.WA, the Polish unit of Dutch bank ING Groep INGA.AS, reported on Thursday a 18% increase in second-quarter net profit on a yearly basis. The lender's net profit came in at 1.14 billion zlotys ($305.31 million), exceeding a company-compiled consensus estimate of 1.09 billion zlotys.

ARMS PURCHASE

On Friday, Poland will sign a contract for the purchase of another 180 Korean K2 tanks, approximately 60 of which will be assembled in Polish factories, Rzeczpospolita daily reported.

TAXES

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Wednesday in an interview with private broadcaster TVN that an increase in the tax-free allowance to 60,000 zlotys ($16,076.74) in 2027 is unlikely.

BONDS

The high fiscal deficit means that banks' treasury bond portfolios are much higher than the value of loans granted to companies. At the end of June, Polish banks held 622 billion zlotys ($166.66 billion) in treasury bonds, according to Puls Biznesu daily.

DEBT

On Thursday, the Ministry of Finance will announce the value of bonds it intends to offer in August.
