Broadcom down after report says Google partners with Taiwan's MediaTek for AI chips

** Shares of chipmaker Broadcom AVGO.O fall 1.3% to $192.80

** Google plans to team up with Taiwanese firm MediaTek 2454.TW on next version of chips known as Tensor Processing Units, the Information reports

** Google chose MediaTek partly because MediaTek has strong relationship with TSMC 2330.TW and charges Google less per chip compared to AVGO, report says

** AVGO is still in talks with Google to continue codesigning some of Google AI chips, which TSMC makes in its factory, report says, citing a Broadcom employee

** AVGO stock down ~16% YTD
