Metir plc
("Metir", the "Group" or the "Company")
Qatar Continuous Toxicity Monitoring Project Update
Metir plc (AIM: MET), the leading global provider of fast-response, mobile and
point-of-use water and environmental monitoring technologies, today provides
an update on the Continuous Toxicity Monitoring ("CTM") units in Qatar
installed by its trading company, Modern Water.
Further to the trading update on 2 December 2025, the Group has received a
payment of £37k of the closing deferred payment schedule from its regional
partner Avanceon for the CTM installation in Qatar.
The majority of the installations are capable of being fully operational.
However, Metir and Avanceon are working closely together to resolve some
technical and operational issues at certain locations in Doha relating to the
local handling, storage and use of the key Microtox® reagents installed in
some CTM units in the field.
Microtox® is a highly sensitive gold standard reagent and requires trained
storage and handling. It is anticipated that additional training and quality
control measures provided by Modern Water for Avanceon to install Microtox®
in local conditions will resolve the current CTM consumable issues.
The Group continues to support Avanceon remotely. Due to the current major
disruption in the region, it is uncertain when Metir will be able to send
additional technical support to Doha to provide local training and rectify
these remaining issues; however, efforts are ongoing to action this as soon as
it is safely practicable. As a result, the balance of the Avanceon closing
deferred payment schedule of £161k and the additional contract performance
payment of £50k will be delayed beyond Q1 2026.
There are an additional 17 water pumping stations in the region of Doha that
can be protected by CTM installations. Avanceon has notified Modern Water
that, pending resolution of the current temporary operational setbacks, a
joint proposal by Modern Water and Avanceon should be made to install CTMs as
soon as practicable in all of these locations, enhancing national water
security for the entire vicinity, which is now an essential requirement.
The Board will update shareholders on further developments as soon as
possible.
Bob Moore, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Metir, commented:
"We are pleased with the progress made on the CTM project in Qatar, with the
majority of the installations having been fully operational and delivering
value and critical water security from its real-time toxic water monitoring.
The remaining technical challenges are localised and we are working closely
with our partner Avanceon to resolve them. The Group is willing to commission
the build of additional CTMs as circumstances require in Qatar and elsewhere
in the region.
While current regional disruption may affect the timing of the project
completion, the Group's confidence in the long-term opportunities in the
Middle East remains unchanged."
