    - Canadian Heritage Minister Pascale St-Onge on Thursday
said that she held productive talks with executives at Meta
 META.O , which is blocking Canadians' access to news on
Facebook and Instagram, but told the tech giant she will not
give in to demands to "roll back" Canada's Online News Act.

    - TD Bank Group  TD.TO  on Thursday said it expects fines
and "non-monetary" penalties related to investigations by U.S.
authorities over its anti-money laundering compliance program.
    
    - Donald Trump's mug shot was released on Thursday evening
after he was booked at an Atlanta jail on more than a dozen
felony charges as part of a wide-ranging criminal case stemming
from the former U.S. president's attempts to overturn his 2020
election defeat in Georgia.

    - Canada's corporate ethics watchdog on Thursday announced
investigations into the Canadian units of Walmart  WMT.N , Hugo
Boss  BOSSn.DE  and Diesel owned by Italy's OTB  OTB.L   to
probe allegations of Uyghur forced labor in the companies'
supply chains and operations.
    
    - Canada's Unifor, the union representing 3,700 workers who
walked off the job at 27 Metro stores, set up picket lines to
block trucks from getting in and out of two of Metro Inc's
 MRU.TO  major Ontario distribution centres on August 23, 2023,
in an attempt to break a stalemate with the company that has
