Damage to Warehouse - Loss of Produce
MHP SE, the parent company of the international food and agricultural group
with headquarters and principal operations in Ukraine would like to inform its
stakeholders that due to shelling by the occupying forces on March 12, in the
village of Kvitneve (Kyiv region), a fire broke out in a warehouse (rented by
the Company, two buildings) where frozen MHP chicken meat products were
stored. As a result of the fire, poultry products worth of around US$ 8.5
million was destroyed. It was the largest warehouse in Ukraine used for the
storage of frozen products and predominantly used by large retail chains in
Ukraine.
There were no warehouse workers injured.
This is not the first food warehouse in the Kyiv and surrounding Ukrainian
regions be destroyed by the RF occupiers in the last few days. The occupying
forces are significantly jeopardizing the food security of Ukraine, where a
vulnerable population urgently requires food and is further challenged either
by logistical problems (many roads and bridges no longer exist) or finds
itself on occupied territories.
At the time of this release, around 8,500 tonnes of poultry (potential
financial adverse impact of more than US$ 20 million) is at risk where MHP has
a limited access to the warehouses in the southern regions of Ukraine and in
the Kyiv region, primarily due to destroyed infrastructure supporting
logistics (destroyed roads and railways).
The Company continues to focus on the care and wellbeing of the people of
Ukraine. Currently, MHP has a key responsibility in the food security of the
country and it continues its operations despite substantial difficulties in
supply chain and logistics. MHP fully understands how important poultry
production is for Ukraine and its population at such difficult times. All MHP
employees are fully committed in every effort to ensure that Ukrainians have
access to food now and at any time in the future.
If you #standwithUkraine it will help us to stop the war!
