EUROPE BEFORE THE BELL: NO TIME FOR A BREATHER
European stock index futures are flat to a touch higher heading towards the opening bell, as another busy day looks to be in store for markets, including a bucketload of corporate earnings and a rate decision from the ECB.
The ECB will be the fourth major central bank to announce policy this week, following meetings from the RBNZ (surprise hold), BoC (hike, as expected) and the Fed (hold, as expected). A pause is expected from the ECB after a rate hike last time.
A raft of big earnings Stateside and in Europe are also keeping investors on their toes.
Results from Alphabet GOOGL.O and Microsoft MSFT.O sent their shares in different directions after-market, with investors baulking at Alphabet's cash burn and celebrating Microsoft's jump in free cash flow.
Earnings in Europe from Shell SHEL.L, Volkswagen VOWG.DE, BBVA BBVA.MC, Adidas ADSGn.DE, TotalEnergies TTEF.PA, AB Inbev ABI.BR, Soc Gen SOGN.PA and ING INGA.AS, among a raft of others, will be closely watched this morning.
Euro STOXX 50 futures STXEc1 are little changed heading to the open. Futures on the DAX FDXc1, CAC FCEc1 and FTSE FFIc1 are up 0.2% to 0.4%.
