UK's Mitchells & Butlers gains on strong festive season sales

** Shares of British restaurant and pub operator Mitchells &
Butlers MAB.L up 5% at 239.5 pence
** Stock among top gainers on London's 250 index .FTMC
** Co posts a rise in like-for-like quarterly sales due to
strong demand during the Christmas season
** LFL sales during the 15-week period ended Jan. 11, up
3.9% year-on-year
** Adds that sales growth was strong during the key festive
days, with record sales on Christmas
** "M&B is well-placed to gain market share in a
cost-pressured sector," analysts at Jefferies said in a note
** In 2024, Mitchells & Butlers shares dropped ~3.5%
