Japan's Pan Pacific to consign 312,700 tons of refined copper in H1

TOKYO, April 3 (Reuters) - Pan Pacific Copper (PPC) plans to consign 312,700 metric tons of refined copper production in the first half of the 2026/27 financial year, up 7.5% from a year earlier, Japan's biggest supplier of the metal said this week.

The first half of the country's financial year runs from April to September.

PPC, which is 47.8% owned by JX Advanced Metals 5016.T, 32.2% by Mitsui Mining and Smelting 5706.T and 20% by Marubeni 8002.T, outsources smelting and refining operations to its parent companies' plants. It procures raw materials and sells refined metals.

JX and its rival Mitsubishi Materials 5711.T said in November that they planned to integrate Mitsubishi Material's copper concentrates procurement and copper product sales into PPC, with a contract to be signed by the end of March 2026.

The final agreement has however been delayed, as more time is needed to examine details during due diligence and the signing date is currently undecided, a PPC spokesperson said.
