Polish retailer CCC doubles Q4 core profit (updated)

(Adds additional background information from paragraph 3)
GDANSK, Feb 10 (Reuters) - Polish footwear and fashion
retailer CCC CCCP.WA reported on Monday a 122% year-on-year
jump in its preliminary fourth quarter core profit.
Preliminary earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation
and amortisation (EBITDA) came in at 525 million zlotys ($129.57
million) compared with 442 million zlotys expected by analysts
polled by Reuters.
Revenue rose 14% on the year to 2.87 billion zlotys, driven
mainly by a 25% rise in revenue in its footwear CCC business
line and a 28% rise in revenue in the group's off-price
HalfPrice segment.
CCC's fashion and accessory Modivo Group segment
revenues fell 3% year-on-year but generated a positive EBITDA of
121 million zlotys compared to a loss of 58 million a year ago.

A 30% drop in Modivo Group's general and administrative
costs was the main driver behind the segment's result, CCC
reported.

        The company also
    resolved
to withdraw from its previous plan for the Modivo Group
segment's initial public offer, saying it is no longer in line
with the group's strategy of integrating its sales channels and
client base.
CCC's preliminary gross margin rose 1.9 percentage
points in the quarter to 47.8%, while its EBITDA margin rose 8.9
percentage points to 18.3%.
