Moncler shares volatile after Asia-led revenues beat, analysts upbeat

MILAN, April 22 (Reuters) - Moncler MONC.MI shares opened lower on Wednesday, even after the Italian luxury outerwear maker posted revenue growth above expectations, helped by a strong performance in Asia.

The stock later turned slightly positive and was up around 0.2% at 0840 GMT.

A Milan-based trader said the stock had risen in recent sessions, suggesting the market had already priced in part of the results. Shares rose over 6% in the last ten days.

Bernstein said that the company "smashed" the expectations, adding that most of the beat came from stronger-than-expected performance in the Asia-Pacific region, driven by Chinese and South Korean consumers.

"Moncler knocked it out of the Q1 park compared to peers", said Deutsche Bank analysts, adding that the potential slower trade from March onwards was concerning.

In the conference call with analysts, Moncler's Chief Corporate & Supply Officer Luciano Santel said that Moncler's direct-to-consumer sales had been softer in March and April compared to January and February.

UBS, Deutsche Bank and Kepler Cheuvreux raised their target prices on the stock.
