Monolithic Power forecasts upbeat revenue on AI-driven demand for power chips July 30 (Reuters) - Monolithic Power Systems MPWR.O on Thursday forecast third-quarter revenue above Wall Street estimates, betting on a surge in AI infrastructure spending to boost demand for its power chips.
The chipmaker's quarterly results reflect surging demand for power-management hardware needed to run advanced data centres, as hyperscalers continue to expand capacity to support generative AI workloads.
Here are some details:
The company's shares rose 5.4% after the bell.
Monolithic, which counts AI chip heavyweight Nvidia NVDA.O among its customers, forecast third-quarter revenue in the range of $1.14 billion to $1.16 billion, above analysts' average estimate of $981.9 million, according to data compiled by LSEG.
It reported second-quarter revenue of $980.6 million, above analysts' estimate of $902.5 million.
Adjusted EPS for the reported quarter came in at $6.5, compared with estimates of $5.87 and $5.1 a year ago.
Monolithic is a fabless chipmaker that designs power management semiconductors that control voltage and improve energy efficiency, but outsources manufacturing to outside factories. Its chips are used in AI servers, data centers, cars, and industrial equipment.
