U.S. stocks fell on Thursday, hurt by declines in commodity-related sectors and
trade-sensitive companies as new trade tariffs came into effect in the
U.S.-China trade war, although gains in technology shares helped limit
losses. .N 

 At 11:47 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was down 0.40 percent at
25,629.38. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down 0.18 percent at 2,856.53 and the Nasdaq
Composite  .IXIC  was down 0.19 percent at 7,874.371.
