AGM Statement
MS INTERNATIONAL plc is holding its Annual General Meeting today at 11.00am at
which Michael Bell, Executive Chairman, will provide the following statement:
"I would like to reiterate my comments from the Chairman's Statement in June
about the medium to longer term prospects for the Defence and Security
business. As I am sure you all appreciate, contract news in the Defence and
Security industry is highly sensitive. I can, however, confirm that we have
entered a Memorandum of Understanding to work collaboratively with an
Australian business called Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited, which is an
Australian company that specialises in technology for weapons systems
optimisation and integration. EOS, as they are known, confirmed this when they
announced their quarterly results last Friday. At this stage, we can't add any
further details.
"Turning to the other three divisions, there's still uncertainty on steel
tariffs, but we believe our Forgings businesses are very well positioned,
particularly given our US manufacturing capability. Petrol Station
Superstructures continues to perform well and has met its short term financial
targets. Corporate Branding in the UK has a record orderbook and I am very
pleased to say that the business in the Netherlands showed a profit in both
May and June for the first time for a few years. At last we are seeing the
benefits of a strong and broad sales strategy across a variety of sectors.
"I should also report that, subsequent to my June Final Results statement, we
received a higher offer from one of the parties that had initially expressed
interest in Forgings, Petrol Station Superstructures and Corporate Branding.
We believe the revised offer still undervalued these businesses, and so it was
rejected, but it's pleasing that there continues to be interest in these three
companies. I will, of course, keep shareholders informed should we receive
other expressions of interest."
