NanoViricides surges after update on skin drug

** Shares of NanoViricides Inc  NNVC.A  jump 44.9 pct to 50
cents in premarket    
    ** Drug developer says its first drug candidate, a
broad-spectrum skin cream, has successfully completed the first
of the safety/toxicology studies  urn:newsml:reuters.com:*:nPnzvtGqa 
    ** The drug is currently being tested on animals and is
looking to start the next set of safety/toxicology studies
    ** Co looking to advance drug to human clinical trials for
the treatment of the shingles rash 
    ** Co said last week it received license with TheraCour
Pharma Inc for developing a drug against the virus that causes
chickenpox in children and shingles in adults  urn:newsml:reuters.com:*:nL3N20L4DY
    ** NNVC also developing drugs for seasonal and
potentially-epidemic influenzas, HIV, dengue viruses and other
viral diseases
    ** NNVC shares among top pct gainers across U.S. exchanges
in trading before the bell 
    ** Up to Monday's close, NNVC shares have gained 72.5 pct
this year vs. a more than 77 pct fall last year
