The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq edged higher on Wednesday as a sharp downward
revision in U.S. jobs data for the year ended March 2024 indicated a slowdown in
the labor market, propping up hopes that the Federal Reserve would cut interest
rates next month.  .N 
    
    At 13:36 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was up 0.05% at
40,856.99. The S&P 500  .SPX  was up 0.25% at 5,611.22 and the Nasdaq Composite
 .IXIC  was up 0.27% at 17,864.627.
