Kazakhstan's Kazatomprom says it increased uranium production by 11% in 2025

ALMATY, Feb 2 (Reuters) - Kazatomprom KZAP.KZ, the world's largest uranium producer, reported on Monday that Kazakhstan had increased its annual uranium production by 11% in 2025.

It said the Central Asian country had produced 25,839 tons of uranium last year, compared to 23,270 tons in 2024.

Kazatomprom sells uranium oxide concentrate, an intermediate product in the processing of natural uranium into nuclear fuel, under long-term contracts with only small volumes sold on the spot market.

Kazakhstan does not have any nuclear power plants which produce electricity for its grid, but its uranium reserves account for approximately 15% of the world's total, second only to Australia.

Kazakh state fund Samruk-Kazyna owns 75% of Kazatomprom's shares, which since 2019 are listed on the London Stock Exchange.
