Corrects headline and first paragraph to show that Neste's previous 2035 goal was 'carbon neutral' production, not an 80% reduction in emissions

HELSINKI, Dec 15 (Reuters) - Finnish refiner Neste NESTE.HE said on Monday it will not be able to reach its goal of "carbon neutral production" by 2035 and has instead adopted a new goal of reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2040.

"Reaching the original climate targets by the previously communicated very ambitious target years would have required significant investments that are currently not realistic," the company said in a statement.

"Neste continues to drive growth in renewable fuels, providing alternatives to fossil fuels to mitigate climate change," it said.
