Newfield Resources hits 16-week high on first Tongo mine diamonds sale

** Shares of the Australian mineral explorer  NWF.AX  climb
as much as 3.6% to A$0.435, their highest since Feb. 2 
    ** Co says the sale of first diamonds produced from its
Tongo mine in the eastern province of Sierra Leone yielded $1.44

    ** Says 5,330 carats of diamonds were sold via tender
process conducted by auction house Bonas Group with an average
price realized at $269 per carat
    ** Shares on track for their biggest intraday pct gain since
April 27 
    ** More than 324,300 shares change hands as compared with
the 30-day average volume of ~48,000 shares  
    ** Stock down 10.6% this year, as of last close, vs a 3.5%
decrease in the S&P/ASX 200 index  .AXJO
