The German embassy in Italy on Tuesday asked the country's
main banking union Fabi to explain the takeover battles rocking
the sector, the union said.
COMPANIES
UNICREDIT CRDI.MI
The Italian bank's chief executive Andrea Orcel pledged on
Tuesday to keep this year's profit steady despite easing
revenue, and said the bank would decide whether to bid for
Germany's Commerzbank only in three to five quarters.
TELECOM ITALIA (TIM) TLIT.MI
A consortium led by the Italian Treasury submitted a new
binding bid on Tuesday for the former phone monopoly's subsea
cable unit Sparkle, three sources close to the matter told
Reuters.
NEWLAT FOOD NWLF.MI
The Italian food group said on Tuesday it had begun an
accelerated bookbuilding to sell up to 6.8% of its share
capital.
It will use the placement proceeds to exercise a call option
by July 30, 2025 to buy Mitsubishi's 21.2% stake in the company.

Releases FY results and strategic plan update (before Bourse
opening); followed by conference call with analysts (0800 GMT)
