Sept 24 (Reuters) - Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is
seen opening higher on Tuesday, with futures FFIc1 up 0.6%.
* SMITHS GROUP: UK engineering firm Smiths Group SMIN.L
announced acquisitions of two North American companies for up to
110 million pounds ($146.89 million), and posted a slight miss
in its annual profit.
* DUNELM: British homeware retailer Dunelm's DNLM.L top
shareholder, Will Adderley, and his private investment firm have
sold a 4.9% stake in the company for 11.4 million pounds,
bookrunner Barclays said.
* RASPBERRY PI: Raspberry Pi RPI.L , the British
computer company that floated in June, reported
stronger-than-expected adjusted earnings of $20.9 million for
the first half, but kept its outlook for the full year
unchanged.
* NEWRIVER REIT: Britain's NewRiver REIT NRRT.L would
buy smaller rival Capital & Regional Plc CAL.L in a
stock-and-cash deal valued at about 147 million pounds, the
shopping centres and retail parks owner said on Tuesday.
* BP: Oil major BP BP.L shut in oil and gas production at
two U.S. Gulf of Mexico platforms and curtailed output at two
others ahead of a storm predicted to become a major hurricane.
* OIL: Oil prices rose on news of fresh monetary stimulus
from top importer China, and concerns escalating tensions in the
Middle East could hit supply from the key producing region,
while a major hurricane loomed over the U.S., the world's
biggest crude producer.
* GOLD: Gold prices steadied after surging to a record high
in the previous session, following broadly dovish comments from
U.S. Federal Reserve officials and escalating tensions in the
Middle East.
