    ** The diversified miner says a study shows that its Pebble
deposit in Alaska also contains "substantial quantities" of
rhenium, in addition to minerals such as copper, gold,

    ** Co adds that Pebble's total rhenium contribution
represents an 84% increase to the known rhenium resource base in
the United States 
    ** Rhenium is used in jet engines and other military
applications, where it helps engines reach higher temperatures

of a controversy, with environmentalists arguing that the mine,
if built, would damage the surrounding salmon-rich habitat, and
