** Shares of U.S. utility firm NRG Energy NRG.N up 2.9% at $180 premarket

** Company reports Q4 adjusted earnings of $1.04 per share vs. analysts' average estimate of 96 cents - data compiled by LSEG

** NRG reaffirms 2026 adjusted earnings forecast in the range of $7.90 to $9.90 per share

** "We've doubled our generation footprint, advanced 1.5 GW of new generation through three Texas Energy Fund projects, and expanded our demand response and residential VPP capabilities," says CEO Larry Coben
