O'Reilly's first-quarter profit, revenue rises on auto parts demand

April 29 - O'Reilly Automotive ORLY.O reported higher first-quarter profit and revenue on Wednesday, aided by strong demand for replacement auto parts.

Steep new vehicle prices in the U.S. have pushed more consumers to keep their older cars on the roads with DIY repairs, boosting demand for parts retailers like O'Reilly.

Shares of the company rose 4% in after-hours trading.

Revenue for the quarter ended March 31 rose by about 10% to about $4.6 billion from a year ago.

The Springfield, Missouri-based company's quarterly profit rose to $604 million or 72 cents per share compared with about $538 million or 62 cents per share, a year ago.
