Ocugen rises on FDA nod to eye disorder gene therapy trial

** Shares of drug developer Ocugen  OCGN.O  up 8.7% at $1.99
premarket  
    ** OCGN says U.S. health regulator has cleared co's
application to begin late-stage trial for gene therapy candidate
to treat retinitis pigmentosa (RP)  
    ** RP is a group of rare, genetic disorders that involve a
breakdown and loss of cells in retina, leading to vision loss
and blindness
     ** Says co's candidate, OCU400, is the first gene therapy
to enter late-stage trial for multiple forms of RP
    ** Study will include 150 participants - OCGN
    ** Up to last close, OCGN shares more than doubled in past
12 months
