Orchard Therapeutics jumps on FDA nod for human trials of genetic disease therapy
** Shares of gene therapy developer Orchard Therapeutics Plc
ORTX.O rise 61% to ~83 cents premarket
** Co says U.S. FDA allows human trials for its experimental
gene therapy to treat a form of genetic neurometabolic disease
called mucopolysaccharidosis type I (MPS-I)
** MPS-I is caused by the deficiency of an enzyme which is
required to break down sugar molecules called glycosaminoglycans
** Co plans to begin trial evaluating safety and efficacy of
OTL-203 compared to standard-of-care in H2 this year
** Shares of ORTX fell 71.9% last year
