OIL SHIPMENTS
Saudi Arabia has cut oil shipments to Europe after drone attacks damaged its key export pipeline to the Red Sea, trade sources told Reuters, prompting top customers such as Poland to rush to seek alternatives as cargo prices topped $120 a barrel.
Polish integrated oil firm Orlen PKN.WA is rushing to find crude oil cargoes from the North Sea and further afield to replace disrupted Saudi imports, five industry sources told Reuters.
WINDFALL TAX
Poland's government aims to push through a windfall tax on oil companies' excess profits and use the revenue raised to reduce fuel prices, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Tuesday, urging the country's president not to block it again.
INTEREST RATES
Polish interest rates could remain unchanged until the end of this year, though a first-quarter 2027 hike cannot be ruled out if a commodities shock has a lasting impact on inflation, central banker Marcin Zarzecki told Reuters.
Polish interest rates will likely remain stable for one or two quarters, central banker Ireneusz Dabrowski told state news agency PAP in comments published on Tuesday, adding that after the first quarter of 2027 a rate cut is more likely than a hike.
INFLATION
