BEIJING, July 29 (Reuters) - China's industry minister on Tuesday met with a delegation of U.S. businesses including Apple AAPL.O in Beijing, and pledged to uphold fair, just, and open market competition and provide support and services for foreign enterprises.
The meeting comes during the latest round of U.S.‑China trade talks in Sweden and as the world's two biggest economies seek to extend a tariff truce that had dialled back triple-digit levies and eased export control measures.
Minister Li Lecheng and the delegation led by U.S.-China Business Council's (USCBC) board chair Rajesh Subramaniam exchanged views on areas like equipment machinery and intelligent manufacturing, according to a statement from the Chinese industry ministry.
Li also called on the council to encourage more U.S. firms to invest in China and create favourable conditions for the healthy development of Sino-U.S. industrial cooperation and trade exchange.
Representatives from firms including Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc TMO.N and OTIS OTIS.N were at the meeting, the Chinese ministry said.
Reuters previously reported a high-level delegation of American executives will visit China this week, in a trip organised by the USCBC.
