Hungary central bank lifts countercyclical capital buffer to 1% from July 2025

BUDAPEST, June 25 (Reuters) - The National Bank of
Hungary will increase the countercyclical capital buffer rate
for banks to 1%, from 0.5%, effective from July 1, 2025, the
bank said in a statement on Tuesday. 
    "Due to the still high geopolitical and macroeconomic
uncertainty, in line with the practice of European countries and
the recommendation of international institutions, the Financial
Stability Board has decided to increase the countercyclical
capital buffer," the bank said.
