Italy - Factors to watch on Dec. 15

The following factors could affect Italian markets on Thursday.

    POLITICS
    Italy's draft 2023 budget draft, drawn up by its new
government, is overall in line with policies agreed by EU
governments, the European Commission said on Wednesday, noting
that it did also have several drawbacks.
    The Italian parliament should have a proper and wide-ranging
debate on the euro zone bailout fund before deciding whether to
ratify its reformed treaty, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti
said on Wednesday.
    ECONOMY
    Bank of Italy releases October data on public finances,
state borrowing and debt.
    Italy has so far collected around 2.8 billion euros ($3
billion) from a contested windfall tax on energy companies in
force for this year only, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti
told parliament on Wednesday.
    COMPANIES
    TELECOM ITALIA (TIM)  TLIT.MI 
    The phone group held a meeting with representatives of
Global Infrastructure Partners to discuss a potential investment
by the infrastructure fund into Telecom Italia's landline grid,
a source with knowledge of the matter said on Wednesday.
    The head of Telecom Italia (TIM) said on Wednesday the
company needs to sell assets to cut its debt after a sale of its
landline grid to state lender Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP)
was put on hold by the new government.
    Board expected to meet; first meeting among government and
representatives of Telecom Italia's main shareholders, Vivendi
 VIV.PA  and state lender Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), to
discuss the new executive's plans for the former monopolist.

    The board of Italy's biggest utility has approved on
Wednesday selling one or more subordinated bonds for a total of
up to 2 billion euros ($2.1 billion) by the end of next year.

    The board of the gas distributor approved on Wednesday the
2022-2028 Sustainable Value Creation Plan, which sets targets to
create value for the group's stakeholders and for the
territories in which it operates.
