UK Stocks-Factors to watch on April 7 (updated)

April 7 (Reuters) - Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening higher on Tuesday, with futures FFIc1 up 0.13%.

* PERSHING SQUARE: Bill Ackman's Pershing Square PSHP.L proposed to buy Universal Music Group UMG.AS in a cash-and-stock deal worth about 55.75 billion euros ($64.31 billion).

* DOCTORS' STRIKES: Resident doctors in England started a six-day walkout after rejecting an offer the government said would not get better, with the British Medical Association saying it fell short of reversing years of pay erosion and staffing pressures.

* CAR SALES: New car registrations in the UK grew around 6% in March, which is usually the biggest month for vehicle registrations in the country, preliminary industry data showed.

* BP: Influential proxy adviser Institutional Shareholder Services recommended a vote against the BP BP.L board on revoking some previous climate reporting resolutions and allowing it to hold online-only shareholder meetings, according to a note seen by Reuters.

* OIL: Oil prices extended gains on Tuesday as a U.S.-imposed deadline loomed for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz or be "taken out", with U.S. President Donald Trump threatening to order attacks on Iranian bridges and power plants.

* GOLD: Gold nudged down on Tuesday as investors stayed cautious ahead of a deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

* METALS: Copper rose on Tuesday with the prospect of stronger demand in China, even as investors remained cautious over the Middle East war.
