UK's Pinewood Technologies soars on potential $792 million offer

** Shares of British auto retailer Pinewood Technologies Group PINE.L jump 25.3% to 483 pence, top pct gainer on FTSE small cap index .FTSC

** Co on Thursday confirmed it was in discussions with private equity firm Apax Partners for possible cash offer of 500 pence per share valuing PINE at 575.5 million pounds ($792.06 million)

** Apax to announce firm intention or withdraw by February 26

** PINE says it would be minded to recommend offer to shareholders should firm intention be announced on such financial terms

** Stock fell 0.3% in 2025, while FTSE smallcaps gained 10.1%
