US Energy sector up on supply concerns amid Red Sea attacks

** S&P 500 Energy Sector .SPNY up ~1%, tracking gains in
crude prices O/R
** Brent crude LCOc1 up 1.8% to $79.39/bbl, and US West
Texas Intermediate crude CLc1 up 2.1% to $73.98/bbl after
attacks by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi militants on ships in the
Red Sea disrupted maritime trade and forced companies to reroute
vessels, sparking supply concerns
** Energy majors Chevron CVX.N and Exxon Mobil XOM.N
rise 0.9% and 1.2%, respectively
** Occidental Petroleum OXY.N , Pioneer Natural Resources
PXD.N , SLB SLB.N and Halliburton HAL.N , among the top pct.
gainers on the energy index, up between 1.2% and 1.9%
