PNC Financial climbs after Q1 profit jumps

** Shares of PNC Financial PNC.N up 1.7% at $225.01

** Bank reports an 18% jump in Q1 profit, helped by strong loan growth and its acquisition of regional lender FirstBank

** PNC posts profit of $1.77 bln, or $4.13 per share, compared with $1.50 bln a year earlier; adjusted EPS was $4.32

** Bank bought back nearly $700 mln of shares in Q1 and expects $600 mln to $700 mln in buybacks in Q2

** Including session moves, PNC stock up about 7.1% YTD
