Problems with the rearview mirror have forced Porsche and now parent company Volkswagen to recall over half a million vehicles collectively in the US. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced the latest round of measures on Tuesday. VW Group of America, including its Audi subsidiary, is recalling over 356,000 vehicles in the country. The NHTSA said it's due to a software error that can lead to problems displaying the rearview camera image. VW recorded annual sales in the US market of almost 380,000 units in 2024. It did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Last week, the German auto group's luxury subsidiary, Porsche, said it would recall over 173,000 vehicles in the US, also due to a rearview camera problem. It's one of the largest single safety recalls issued by Porsche Cars North America in recent years. The agency said the VW recall affects certain models from 2019 to 2026 with dealers to update the software free of charge.
