U.S. TARIFFS
Polish Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski said on private television TVN24 that the tariffs imposed by the United States will have a moderate impact on the Polish economy, because it is not too dependent on exports to the U.S.
He added that the imposed tariffs may have a negative impact indirectly, for example through the German economy, which is Poland's largest economic partner.
INTEREST RATES
Polish Monetary Policy Council member Henryk Wnorowski told Bloomberg that he still sees a chance for a rate cut in July, but it is smaller than before the publication of the March inflation projection, PAP news agency reported.
Polish central bank Governor Adam Glapinski said on Thursday there were no reasons for cutting interest rates at the moment due to the outlook for inflation and he did not think that the current level of rates was a barrier to economic growth.
INFLATION
On Friday, the Statistical Office will publish inflation data for Poland for January and February. Analysts surveyed by Reuters expect inflation to be 5.3% in February.
On Friday at 0800, the National Bank of Poland will publish details of a new inflation projection to 2027.
CENTRAL BANK
On Friday at 1300, the National Bank of Poland will publish a report from the Monetary Policy Council (MPC) meeting in February.
DEBT
On Friday at 1130 the finance ministry will hold an auction for the sale of treasury bills, and at 1400 it will publish the supply of bonds for the auction on Tuesday.
BANKS
According to the Rzeczpospolita daily's estimates, in 2024, the nine Polish banks listed on the stock exchange will have a net profit of 38.4 billion zlotys ($9.94 billion), which is 27% more than a year earlier.
NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
The Ministry of Industry predicts that electricity from the first block of the first Polish nuclear power plant will flow in 2036, not in 2033, as the government had previously assumed. In 2032, construction of the second nuclear power plant is to begin, Puls Biznesu daily reported.
