Polish insurer PZU's first-quarter net profit rises 40% y/y, beats expectations

GDANSK, May 15 (Reuters) - PZU PZU.WA, Poland's leading insurer, reported on Thursday a 40% year-on-year rise in its first-quarter net profit.

Net profit for the quarter reached 1.76 billion zlotys  ($465.52 million), exceeding the 1.54 billion zlotys forecast by analysts in a company-compiled consensus.
