Italy - Factors to watch on Jan. 13

The following factors could affect Italian markets on Monday.

    POLITICS
    Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on Friday that
he had called for a moratorium on EU sanctions on Syria for six
months or one year, but that a final decision could only come
from the entire bloc.
    Iranian businessman Mohammad Abedini, who had been detained
in Italy on a U.S. warrant, on Sunday left jail and returned to
Iran after Rome's justice minister filed to revoke his arrest.
    
    ECONOMY
    OECD releases December composite leading indicator data
(1100 GMT).
    Bank of Italy releases November data on Italian residents
deposits with domestic banks, banks lending to non-financial
companies and gross bad loans at Italian banks.
    
    DEBT
    Treasury sells 2.5-2.75 billion euros 2.70% BTP bonds due
Oct. 15, 2027 and 2.75-3.0 billion euros 3.15% due Nov. 15,
2031. Subscriptions close at 1000 GMT.
    
    COMPANIES
    BANCO BPM  BAMI.MI , ANIMA  ANIM.MI  
    Italy's third-largest bank is planning to update its
industrial plan before the end of March, targeting higher
profits and increasing shareholders' remuneration, Corriere
della Sera daily reported on Saturday. The bank may also raise
its buyout offer for fund manager Anima, the paper added.
    
    LUFTHANSA  LHAG.DE 
    Lufthansa is set to acquire a stake in Italian state-owned
airline ITA Airways on Monday, a source familiar with the
situation told Reuters last week.
    ITA resumed direct flights to Libya's Tripoli on Sunday, the
first airline from a major west European nation to do so after a
10-year hiatus due to civil war in the north African country.   
    
    UNICREDIT  CRDI.MI  
    Representatives from the bank met in recent days with the
government official in charge of "golden power" dossiers to
discuss the bid for Banco BPM, daily La Stampa reported on
Saturday. It added that the government could ask for no job cuts
or branch closures in return for its approval of the deal.    
    
    STELLANTIS  STLAM.MI  
    The automaker achieved its goal of cutting U.S. inventories
by more than 100,000 vehicles by the end of last year, its chief
for North America, Antonio Filosa, said at the Detroit Auto Show
on Friday.
    
    LEONARDO  LDOF.MI  
    The family of Thai businessman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who
died in the crash of a Leonardo-made helicopter in 2018, is
suing the Italian defence group before a London court for 2.15
billion pounds ($2.65 billion).
    
    GENERALI  GASI.MI  
    The mooted asset management tie-up with France's Natixis
should have a 50-50 governance set up, with a new entity that
should be led initially by the CEO of Generali Investments
Holding, Woody Bradford, Il Sole 24 Ore reported on Saturday.
    
    ILLIMITY  ILTY.MI 
    The Italian specialty lender said on Friday that the bid
launched by rival Banca Ifis  IF.MI  had not been not "solicited
or previously agreed".      
    
    M&A, VERSACE
    Italy's Prada  1913.F   1913.HK  is among the potential
suitors for fashion group Versace, which has been put up for
sale by Capri Holdings  CPRI.N , and has been working with Citi
to evaluate any bid, a person with knowledge of the matter said
on Friday.
    
    BRUNELLO CUCINELLI  BCU.MI 
    Board meeting on FY preliminary results.
    
    JUVENTUS  JUVE.MI  
    Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw at Torino in Serie A on
Saturday after Nikola Vlasic cancelled out Juve's early opener
by Kenan Yildiz 
    
    LAZIO  LAZI.MI  
    The Roman club had its third game in a row without a win on
Friday, as it drew 1-1 at home with lowly Como.
    
    UCAPITAL24  U24.MI 
    Starts capital increase; ends on Jan. 27.
