Qnity tops quarterly estimates, lifts annual forecast on AI infrastructure demand
Qnity tops quarterly estimates, lifts annual forecast on AI infrastructure demand Aug 4 (Reuters) - Qnity Electronics Q.N raised its annual revenue and profit forecasts on Tuesday on strong demand for its products used in artificial intelligence infrastructure and data centers.
Shares of the company rose 6.9% in premarket trading as it also beat second-quarter earnings expectations.
Qnity makes specialty materials used in the production and packaging of semiconductors, as well as high-speed components that connect servers and other data-center equipment.
Here are some details:
Demand for the company's interconnect solutions and semiconductor technologies surged as cloud giants Amazon AMZN.O and Microsoft MSFT.O ramped up capital spending on AI infrastructure and data centers, with quarterly expenditure now exceeding $50 billion at both companies.
The company's Interconnect Solutions segment, which supplies products used in high-speed transmission and is exposed to demand from AI data centers, posted sales of $685 million in the second quarter, up 30% from a year earlier.
Qnity forecast full-year revenue between $5.55 billion and $5.65 billion, compared with analysts' average estimate of $5.37 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG, up from its prior forecast of $5.225 billion to $5.375 billion.
The company also raised its outlook for adjusted full-year earnings per share to $4.40 to $4.60 from $3.80 to $4.14 forecast earlier. Analysts were estimating $4.14.
It reported revenue of $1.43 billion for the quarter ended June 30, compared with estimates of $1.36 billion, while adjusted profit came in at $1.19 per share, compared with estimates of $1.06 per share.
In late July, Qnity expanded its Laird thermal-management range with a liquid gap filler and thermal grease designed for AI, automotive and high-power electronics, as rising power density makes heat dissipation increasingly critical.
