MILAN, Dec 19 (Reuters) - The main shareholders in
Italian broadcasting tower companies Rai Way RWAY.MI and EI
Towers have signed a preliminary agreement to kick off talks
over a potential merger, they said in a statement on Thursday.
The agreement includes an exclusivity period up to Sept. 30,
2025, the statement said.
A tie-up between Milan-listed Rai Way RWAY.MI , controlled
by Italian state broadcaster RAI, and EI Towers, which is owned
by Italian infrastructure fund F2i and Italy's top commercial
broadcaster MFE MFEB.MI , has been mooted for years.
It would create a national broadcasting tower champion worth
nearly 4 billion euros, including debt.
