Dettol maker Reckitt takes Russia sales hit as EU sanctions harden

LONDON, April 22 (Reuters) - Britain's Reckitt RKT.L on Wednesday told Reuters its Russian unit was developing products and registering intellectual property to replace the majority of its hygiene portfolio in that country after harsher EU sanctions hurt sales there.

Reckitt on Wednesday reported first-quarter results, saying it missed quarterly like-for-like net revenue expectations for its core business and warning of lower first-half margins due to high oil prices, lower demand for cold and flu products, and stranded costs.

The company also said its emerging markets like-for-like net revenue growth took a 200-basis-point hit due to a double-digit decline in like-for-like net revenue from Russia after changes to the international sanctions regime impacted its Russian household care and germ protection business.
