LONDON, Feb 24 (Reuters) - U.S.-based social media platform Reddit RDDT.N said on Tuesday it intended to appeal a 14.47 million pound ($19.51 million) fine imposed by Britain's privacy watchdog over failures related to children's privacy.
“Reddit doesn’t require users to share information about their identities, regardless of age, because we are deeply committed to their privacy and safety," a spokesperson said in a statement.
"The (Information Commissioner's Office)'s insistence that we collect more private information on every UK user is counterintuitive and at odds with our strong belief in our users' online privacy and safety. We intend to appeal the ICO’s decision."
