Wall Street's main indexes fell on Tuesday ahead of key inflation data later
this week that could provide clarity on the extent of the Federal Reserve's
expected interest rate cut, while a fall in the shares of big banks weighed on
the markets.  .N 
    
    At 13:41 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was down 0.4% to
40,670.27. The S&P 500  .SPX  was up 0.12% at 5,477.46 and the Nasdaq Composite
 .IXIC  was up 0.36% at 16,945.695.
