Erasca drops after patient death reported in early cancer trial

** Shares of drug developer Erasca ERAS.O fall 36.7% to $12.12 premarket after the company discloses death of a patient in an early-stage trial of experimental cancer drug ERAS‑0015

** Company says the 66-year-old pancreatic cancer patient developed severe pneumonitis, roughly a month after starting ERAS‑0015; patient later chose to withdraw supportive care and died

** ERAS says it does not expect the case to represent a broader safety concern

** "The single pneumonitis-related death occurred in the PDAC cohort in a patient who withdrew care before resolution, and management does not expect pneumonitis frequency to rise meaningfully with broader use" - Clear Street

** In the same study, ERAS‑0015 produced tumor responses in 62% of previously treated lung cancer patients, versus 38% for Revolution Medicines' RVMD.O daraxonrasib in a comparable early trial

** Revolution's shares up 8.4% premarket

** RBC Capital Markets says that "while we look for further updates to better define the ultimate competitive landscape, in the near term we think RVMD remains the clear leader in the RAS space"

** As of last close, ERAS up 414.8% YTD
