IBM, quantum computing stocks climb after US says to invest $2 bln in firms

** Quantum computing stocks rise premarket, extending gains from the previous session

** The Trump administration on Thursday said it would take $2 bln in equity stakes across nine quantum-computing firms

** The U.S. Department of Commerce said IBM IBM.N to receive $1 bln to set up a company to manufacture quantum chips; shares rise 2.5%

** Contract chipmaker GlobalFoundries GFS.O to get $375 mln for a U.S. factory to make components for different types of quantum machines; stock gain 4.3%

** Others like D-Wave QBTS.N and Rigetti Computing RGTI.O to get about $100 mln each; stocks advance 0.5% and 1.7%, respectively

** The move is a major push to secure U.S. leadership in emerging technology and counter China
