    POLITICS
    Italy remains dissatisfied with the apologies offered by
Paris after a French minister accused Rome of mishandling the
influx of migrants, Italy's foreign minister Antonio Tajani said
on Sunday.
    
    Former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi sent a video
message to his Forza Italia party on Saturday in his first
appearance since being hospitalised a month ago, saying he is
ready to return to work.
    
    ECONOMY
    The European Central Bank's interest rates may be nearing
the level required to control inflation, the Bank of Italy's
governor Ignazio Visco said on Friday, adding that the peak
expected by markets "is an important reference point" for the
central bank.
    
    Bank of Italy releases April data on Target 2 liabilities
and European Central Bank funding to Italian banks.
    
    DEBT
    Treasury announces sale of BTP bonds, with relative amounts
to be auctioned on May 11.
    
    COMPANIES
    TELECOM ITALIA  TLIT.MI 
    Italy's Treasury is ready to back a joint purchase
proposalfor the goup's grid by KKR  KKR.M  and state lender CDP
in a bid to end a stalemate over the sale process of the phone
group's prized asset, sources told Reuters.
    
    BANCA MONTE DEI PASCHI  BMPS.MI 
    Italy's Treasury is open to reducing its 64% stake in the
lender through one or more share sales on the market, three
people briefed on the matters told Reuters.
    
    SNAM  SRG.MI 
    The gas rid is interested in the potential acquisition of
Edison's  EDNn.MI  gas storage business, chief executive Stefano
Venier said on Friday.
    
    BPER BANCA  EMII.MI 
    The Italian bank said on Saturday it had reached an accord
with unions for 540 voluntary staff exits that would be partly
offset by 270 new hires, adding it would also make 80 temporary
contracts permanent.
