UK names bookrunners for digital gilt launch in early 2027 LONDON, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Britain's finance ministry named six banks that will act as bookrunners for the pilot issuance early next year of a government bond that will use distributed ledger technology.
Barclays BARC.L, HSBC HSBA.L, Lloyds LLOY.L, Morgan Stanley MS.N, NatWest NWG.L and RBC Capital Markets RY.TO will act as joint lead managers for the Digital Gilt Instrument.
The new bond, known as DIGIT, will explore whether distributed ledger technology – similar to what underpins cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin – can simplify the administration of traditional financial products.
