The following factors could affect Italian markets on Friday.

    POLITICS
    Italy reacted grudgingly to a European Union deal on more
lenient budget rules for the 20-nation euro zone, but details of
the new-look pact show Rome has good reasons for relief and
faces only modest pressure to reduce its mammoth public debt.
    
    Italy's lower house of parliament voted on Thursday against
a long-awaited reform of the euro zone bailout fund, throwing
into doubt ratification of a European Union treaty that is
designed to provide help for failing banks.
    
    ECONOMY
    ISTAT releases December consumer and business confidence
data (0900 GMT); November non-EU foreign trade data (1000 GMT);
October industry sales data (1100 GMT).
    
    COMPANIES
    STELLANTIS  STLAM.MI  
    S&P on Thursday upgraded the automaker's rating to BBB+ from
BBB, with a stable outlook, on expected strong profitability and
cash conversion.  
    
    ENI  ENI.MI  
    The Italian oil major said on Thursday it has agreed to sell
a 9% stake in its low-carbon and retail unit Plenitude to Energy
Infrastructure Partners (EIP) through a deal that values the
unit at 10 billion euros ($11 billion) including debt.
    
    GENERALI  GASI.MI   
    Italy's top insurer said on Thursday it expected to book an
after-tax gain of around 300 million euros in the fourth quarter
of the year after selling its German specialised pension unit to
Fosun-backed Frankfurter Leben.
    
    SAFILO  SFLG.MI  
    Italian eyewear maker Safilo SFLG.MI said on Thursday it was
ending a licensing agreement with top fashion influencer Chiara
Ferragni, who has come under fire for misleading advertising on
charity initiatives.
    
    VIANINI  VINI.MI 
    The company said on Thursday that Italian stock market
watchdog Consob has approved its offer document for a capital
increase of up to 60 million euros, as agreed by the board on
Dec. 18. 
    
    DE LONGHI  DLG.MI  
    The home appliance maker said on Thursday it was buying from
its parent company a stake in high-end espresso machine
manufacturer La Marzocco to create a hub with its Eversys unit,
as it bet on coffee to drive growth.
      
    ARNOLDO MONDADORI EDITORE  MOED.MI 
    The Italian publishing house said on Thursday it had sold to
Publitalia '80 its 50% stake in Mediamond for around 1.4 million
euros, with effect from Jan. 1.
        
    DIARY
        Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani visits Albania and meets
Prime Minister Edi Rama.
