STOXX DIPS EVEN WITH TECH BOOST
A more than 1% jump in Europe's technology sector is not enough to keep the STOXX 600 from falling into the red in early trade, as attention turns towards Fed Chair Warsh's speech at Jackson Hole.
Tech stocks .SX8P are up 1.3% in Europe, with the hardware segment given a boost by an upbeat forecast from Nvidia NVDA.O, and software side helped by strong results from Salesforce CRM.N.
But tech remains the only sector in the green in Europe, meaning the STOXX 600 is a touch softer.
The pan-European benchmark is down about 0.2%. Breadth is negative, with about two-thirds of companies declining.
Food & beverages .SX3P, chemicals .SX4P and healthcare .SXDP are the biggest laggards.
Eyes are now turning to Warsh's speech tomorrow at Jackson Hole after inflation data on Wednesday came in a touch stronger than expected, prompting investors to slightly up their bets on a rate hike next month.
