** Australian energy stocks .AXEJ gain as much as 1.5%, highest since August 25
** Oil prices jump after the U.S. attacked an Iranian island in the Strait of Hormuz and drew retaliation from Tehran O/R
** Energy producers Santos STO.AX and Woodside Energy WDS.AX rise 1.3% and 1.4%, respectively
** AXEJ up 31.1% YTD
