Ksi Lisims LNG signs 20-year supply deal with Santos
Ksi Lisims LNG signs 20-year supply deal with Santos Sept 14 (Reuters) - Canada's Ksi Lisims LNG on Monday said it has signed a heads of agreement with Australian energy firm Santos STO.AX for the sale and purchase of 1 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) over a 20-year term.
The deal marks the latest in a string of supply agreements for the proposed British Columbia LNG export project in Canada as it works toward a final investment decision.
Sales to Santos will be on a Free on Board basis for up to 20 years, subject to the completion of a sale and purchase agreement (SPA).
The deal builds on strong commercial momentum for the project, which has entered into SPAs with Shell, TotalEnergies and Uniper for 6 mtpa, with the developer aiming to complete commercialization of its full 12 mtpa capacity this year.
Ksi Lisims also recently secured a similar heads of agreement with Germany's state-backed SEFE for another 1 mtpa over 20 years, as European and Asia-Pacific buyers seek to diversify gas supply.
The onshore components of the project — a partnership between the Nisga'a Nation, Rockies LNG and Western LNG — will be located on land owned by Nisga'a Nation, as defined in the Nisga'a Treaty.
